Catch of the Day: Mackerel Fishing on Loch Fyne
Reporting from a ramshackle pier on the west coast of Scotland where you can catch your own food and meet some interesting characters
St. Catherines is a village on the banks of Loch Fyne, the kind of place you’d probably drive past without notice. Its primary features are a caravan park and an abandoned hotel. But across the road from the old hotel is a lay-by with access to a ramshackle concrete jetty. It won’t win any architectural awards, but it’s a fantastic place to go fishing.
